Kirk's Lost Thoughts - Ep. 2.20
WOW! Both Ana and Libby knocked off, I didn't see that one coming. Apparently JJ, Damon and company take a dim view on drunk driving. The Clinton spin doctors have found employment with ABC until Hillary runs; they're saying this was planned all along. Or is there a more insidious force at work here? Could the mysterious "him" actually be Jason Voorhees? Attractive females that engage in pre-martial hanky-panky don't have a long life-span on the Island. Poor Libby, she probably hadn't yet 'done the deed'; however she had that twinkle in her eye when asking Hurley about the blankets. Ana, great acting on Michelle's part (see later), gets lucky and drops dead an hour later. Shannon saddles up to Sayid, starts seeing things and then is shot. Finally we have the only (major) male character to die, Boone. Of all the guys he's the most metro and the way he looked at Locke... Not that there is anything wrong with that. Next? Kate, you had better watch yourself when alone with Jack or Sawyer.
Lost is building towards the season finale which is supposed to shock us. It's a two hour flashback of Desmond and how he came to be on the Island. Expect the next few episodes to be really good with lots of plot advancement. Until they leave us hanging for the summer.
Darn those numbers popped up again in this episode! I didn't catch them but Sledgeweb has a great screen cap.
More tie ins... Ana-Lucia ran off to Australia with a strange man. Didn't her mom teach her better? Lost being Lost, the strange man is Jack's father. You've got to be kidding me, what next? Having the two of them run into Sawyer while down there? Oh wait, that did happen. Can there be any other interconnections? Who was Doc Shephard's baby momma down under? She seems middle aged, with an Aussie accent. Hmmm... Claire's mom is probably about that age. Claire doesn’t know her father. Hmmm... That couldn't be, could it?
This past Saturday was my birthday and, man, I'm getting old. Turning 28. Again. And again. And again. Since I've been so nice to provide all of you with Lost information these past few months, I fully expect gifts arriving at the condo in the coming days. Just kidding, I went to the Red Sox game with my family and that was gift enough. Ah, and the Sox won too.
Those of us living in the 20th century were probably lucky enough to catch the Hanso Foundation commercial. Those of you with DVR's, got back through the commercials! The commercial gave a toll-free number to call and our good friends at The Tail Section have provided MP3's of what’s on the other end of the number.

They've also provided a copy of the Hanso Foundation's press release for us to check out. Some of the recordings mention Widmore industries, which I've discussed before. This company’s logo is on Henry's balloon, keep you eye out for it in the coming weeks.
Or, check out the completely re-done Hanso Foundation website. For those of you that missed the commercial, it's on the site along with a ton of other fun things. Easter Eggs anyone?
- On the Left Nav click Newsletter (signup). Type anything in the box. The screen will get a little funky, when it asks "Can you read this" then type yes. It will then ask for a password, it is "breaking strain". And now the fun begins...
- Click on Joop's Corner on the left Nav. Click on the send a message to Joop here (lower right). Type "What does it all mean?" A new screen will pop up with little white rings; click on them. Keep going until you see a red ring. Then there's a message. If you keep clicking on the signature, you'll see more and more messages. It's a bit of a pain in the rear to view them all. I'm lazy and Lost Links has done all the work for me in their "H" Files.
- Back on Joop's Corner, go to send Joop a message (again) but don't enter anything, just wait and watch the webcam. It takes a few minutes for an image to appear, but you will see an image of a man's face. Who is this strange man?
- Click on the Excecutive Bio's link. Read about the men who run Hanso, then click on the Board of Directors link below the Exec Bios. Who is Liddy Wales? Why is there no picture?
The Lost diary continues to be updated with new adventures and clues. From what I've read/heard, over the summer sites such as Hanso and the Lost diary will have new clues about the show. I don't know if the producers planned this at the beginning of the series, but it looks like this is going to be one of the first multi-media television series. Good Stuff.
Jack doesn't strike me as the kind of guy to be burning books; then again Sawyer doesn't seem the bibliophile either. If you're curious as to what he was reading, pick up Bad Twin from Amazon. Along with those sites I mentioned above it ties in with the show. You can download the first chapter here (WinZip, 8 Meg file) from Lost Links. The author, Gary Troupe (purgatory), has a web site where you can get a tidbit on his last book The Valenzetti Equation. That should sound familiar, on the blast door map there is an area of Valencetti related research activity. Different spelling, but very close.
After the show my phone rang and a Nixonian voice intoned "You won't have Michelle Rodriguez to kick around anymore." Sadly this is true, so for probably the last time, barring flashbacks, here are some juicy tidbits about Michelle Rodriguez. Last week she chose to spend a few days in jail instead of doing community service for her drunk driving. Why? Could it be that she wants some quality time alone with the girls? When she's (NSFW) out on the town (NSFW) she's not shy about picking up girls, as evidenced in this tabloid photo spread. I don't blame her, given the choice of spending five days surrounded by people I want to sleep with or community service; it'd be a no-brainer.
With Michelle gone from the show, Evangeline Lilly has stepped up to the plate with her off camera antics. Dominic Monighan had himself a grand old Easter after Evangeline showed up at his hotel in this Easter Bunny get up. Yup, the Lord died so we could ogle Eve in hotpants and bunny ears. Oh wait, we wouldn't want to do that because she prayed to God to make her ugly. That poor girl, it's tough being beautiful.
Good news for those Star Trek fans out there, Lost's own JJ Abrams will be producing and directing the next Star Trek movie! As a long time fan I hoping he can breathe some new life into the franchise. Come on, my name is Kirk and while I was in the Navy I was stationed on board the USS Enterprise. How can I not be fan?
JJ also directed Mission Impossible III and if you look at the last name in the Special Thanks section you'll see "The Hanso Foundation". (Hat tip to The Tail Section)
Till next week, Namaste
