Kirk's Lost Thoughts - Ep 2.17
What a great episode, huh?!? Hopefully the next few will continue in the same mold. Unfortunately this is going to be a pretty light posting (again) due to some outside events over the past few weeks.
It wouldn't be an episode of Lost without one of the survivors having some past connections. Locke was doing a home inspection for none other than Sayid's ex-girlfriend Nadia!
Those darned numbers... They keep on popping up. The real Henry Gale's address is 815 Walnut Ridge Road. The safety deposit box that Locke opened was also numbered 1516.
More and more I'm beginning to believe Locke's Dad, Anthony Cooper, was the man who conned Sawyer's mom. Either that or he's Dick Cheney. He's got oodles of money, likes to hunt birds and has pulled off a few pretty big cons in his day. Ok, ok just kidding about being our Vice Prez but you thought “Hmmm….” Back to those cons, one for Locke's kidney and the other for seven hundred thousand dollars from some gangsters. Somehow this aspect of his personality has to be connected to another survivor. Everything else in this show is! What did you think of that Oceanic Air shoulder bag he was lugging around? Did you notice there was also an Oceanic Air plane that flew over the hotel?
The thing everyone has been talking about is "The Map". Who drew it? What is written? Is that Latin? Thankfully there are people with a lot more time on their hands than us and they've cleaned up the Map for us. Here is what we saw, Lost.Cubit.Net's version and for comparison's sake one from the TheTailSection.com. At the bottom left corner has written "Valenzetti related research activity". Who is Valenzetti? While I'm typing about names, on the right hand side it says "known final resting place of Magnus Hanso/BlackRock". Is that the son of Alvar?
Thankfully Lizzy's buddy Kerry is able to provide some excellent filler with a great theory:
The idea that “Henry” knew the numbers but not their purpose has got me to change my thinking a bit. I’ve always thought that everyone connected to DHARMA who was on the island before the crash were together. Now I doubt it. Here’s my scenario.
DHARMA set up shop on the island. A multi purpose research facility, each pod with a different purpose. The incident occurs, since we know of a sickness, most likely in the medical research pod, The Staff. Based on “Maternity Leave” this is where Zeke, Ethan and the others were stationed. The outbreak causes DHARMA to shut down research but not abandon its people on the island. They create a modern day leper colony. Each pod was numbered. The numbers for each pod must be entered into the computer every 108 minutes. This would let DHARMA know which pods were still unaffected by the sickness. The Staff people would not know about entering the numbers since they’ve been cut off. As long as DHARMA receives the signal they continue to supply the island. DHARMA does send replacements, Desmond for Kelvin etc. They can return home when replaced as long as there is no possibility they’ve been affected. That’s why Desmond and Kelvin protected The Swan so much. Any chance of contamination means they can’t go home. Maybe if DHARMA fails to get the numbers the island will be destroyed.
Meanwhile, Danielle and her team crash on the island. Danielle is the only survivor after losing Alex. She’s free to explore the island, something Zeke and the others are afraid to do. She finds the Black Rock and the dynamite.
Zeke and the medical staff develop a theory that a baby born exposed to the sickness will somehow be immune and might provide a cure. That’s why Alex and Aaron are so important.
I do not think the Others are evil. There is no proof that the Others have killed any lostie. I still think that Nathan and Scott/Steve were working for DHARMA and it wouldn’t surprise me is the Others hate DHARMA for “abandoning” them. So DHARMA moles are fair game. The Others are in a way just as frightened and confused as the losties.
DHARMA is still searching for a cure. Something about our “heroes” makes them likely candidates to find this cure, not sure what that is yet. DHARMA then sets them all up for the flight. There are too many previous connections to be a coincidence.
The survivors of flight 815 are a combination of DHARMA volunteers and the folk’ DHARMA hopes can provide a cure.
Pure speculation on my part but something that wouldn’t surprise me in the future:.
The war may not be between the Losties and the others but between the Others and the DHARMA moles. Whose good and whose evil may be a lot grayer
There’s more moles than we thought.
If I’m right about the numbers and the Others enter their numbers what does DHARMA do?
Till next week..
