Kirk's Lost Thoughts - Ep 2.9

It looks like the cast of Lost is having a grand old time out there in Hawaii... A bit too good of a time according to CNN. The Smoking Gun has some lovely mug shots. Poor Michelle, her drunk judgement is notso hotso this being her third DUI and all. Yup, our little Michelle could end up in the slammer. How would they write that into the show? Since we're talking about her, the boys and non-traditional women will want to check out [NOT WORK SAFE] these pictures [NOT WORK SAFE] of her at the Sky Bar.

I'm pretty happy we've got a nice five week hiatus; it gives me time to move into my new place. If all goes well, I'll be watching episode 2.10 from my new living room. Good Times. A big shout out to Tetto for lending me the ladder, you've made my job so much easier!

Kate is not such a nice person after all. Torching dear old dad?

The new orientation footage was interesting; I've got some info on inconsistencies in it that I touch on later.

Every week it seems more and more like they are being manipulated from afar. Is it conincidental that when Locke & Eko watch the new film clip warning against using the computer to communicate that someone (Walt?) tries to contact the survivors? Or am I mistaking conincidence for fate?

Andy has been doing a lot of research on the crossword puzzle. Locke's answer of GiLGAMESH doesn't fit into the answers, but scripture does. Here are some of his thoughts:
36. Macbeth place = Glen (Scottish for valley, clearing)
37. Belgian port = Haven (port in Dutch)
38. Robbed = Plundered
40. WW II movie feature = B-reel
42. Enkidu's friend = Scripture (the Bible guides him)
43. less brazen = Obscured (hidden, brazen comes from brass) or Burnished
So: "Glen haven plundered; the b-reel hidden in Bible" (The bunker has been plundered; I hid the spliced film [from the Orientation movie] in the Bible.)
or (maybe better): "The b-reel is in the burnished Bible in the plundered/abandoned valley haven (safe house)"

Kate seems to have picked up Walt's ablity to materialize animals out of the blue. A Black Stallion, possibly from her past, has now manifested itself on the Island when she was thinking about the car crash. It reminds me of Walt and the Polar Bear from Hurley's comic. I'm wondering if any of the other suriviors will demonstrate this ablity. It's a damn good thing I'm not tooling around that Island or else they're be some messed stuff running about.

Our friends at The Hanso Foundation are at it again. Navigate over to http://www.thehansofoundation.org/alvarhanso.html and click on the picture of Alvar. Once the quick Flash clip is over we've got another letter from the GHO. No, not Sammy Davis' GHO!

It was good seeing Dr. Candle again, and a bit more of the Orientation clip. Here is a transcript of the new footage.
When the alarm sounds, either you or your partner must input the code. It is highly recommended that you and your partner take alternating shifts. In this manner you will stay as fresh and alert [splice] utmost importance that when the alarm sounds the code be entered correctly, and in a timely fashion. Do not attempt to use the computer [splice] for anything else other than the entering of the code. This is its only function. The isolation that attends the duties associated with Station 3 may tempt you to try and utilize the computer for communication with the outside world. This is strictly forbidden. Attempting to use the computer in this manner will compromise the integrity of the project and worse, could lead to another incident. I repeat, do not use the computer for anything other than entering the code. Congratulations, until your replacements arrive, the future of the project is in your hands. On behalf of the DeGroots, Alvar Hanso and all of us at the Dharma Initiative, thank you. Namaste. And good luck.
Also, Dr. Candle's tie changed slightly in the film clip. Here is a screen cap from Episode 3 and here is one from the Episode 9. It's tied slightly differently, check out the patterns on the knot. Is this just a wardrobe oversight?!? His right collar is also slightly rumped compared to the original film. Once again, wardrobe oversight? Here is a side by side comparison.

More father issues for the Islanders, Katie went and killed hers. When she went to go talk to her ' dad' in the army recruiting office Sayid was on the television. Look in the lower left hand corner on this screen cap.

On the subject of Father issues, everyone on the Island seems to have some sort of daddy issue here is what I have come up with so far:
Jack - His dad was a drunk, killed a patient and pushed Jack endlessly
Sawyer - Killed his mom and then commited suicide
Kate - Beat her Mom
Sun - A gangster that corrupted her husband
Locke - Stole his kidney and treated him like garbage
Walt - His adopted father wanted nothing to do with him and Michael wasn't too pleased to take Walt
Jin - His father seemed down to earth and very fatherly. Naturally Jin was ashamed of him
Shannon - Mr. Rutherford, we hardly knew thee
Sayid - Unknown
Boone - Unknown
Hurley - Unknown
Claire - Unknown
Charlie - Unknown

Any Stephen King fans out there? If so, one of the creators commented that The Stand was a big insipration for Lost. In fact, he joked and asked Stephen King not to sue them. How are they alike? Devil's Expresso has some ideas.

Apparently I' m not the only fan of attractive Hispanic women. In an earlier post I commented on how white and shiny Ana-Lucia's teeth were. This was not always the case! Mark pointed out that in the first season's airport scene she had crooked teeth and smaller lips.
Check out some season one pictures:
Lips - Notice the upper lip is pretty small, looks pretty normal.
Teeth - A couple crooked teeth here and there, personally I think it's cute.
Now compare those to Season 2:
Lips - Oh... Dear... Lord... Colligen anyone?
Teeth - Come on now, no one has teeth like that.
Someone had some work done. Good catch by Sprague, although why is he checking out Ana so closely? Lizzy, thoughts?
